Our services

BFI Automation GmbH supports its customers with extensive services in the field of flame monitoring. These include installations, commissioning, repairs and maintenance work.

A high degree of reliability is expected from safety-relevant components such as flame monitoring. Good commissioning and regular, careful maintenance are the basic prerequisites for safe operation. During recurring maintenance, irregularities in the function can be detected and eliminated in good time. We recommend that inspections and maintenance be carried out by the manufacturer or his authorised representative no later than 8 years after commissioning (assuming typical use and environment of the flame scanner). Regular maintenance work has been proven to increase the service life of the equipment and also reduce malfunctions during operation.

Plant-dependent maintenance intervals can be agreed with BFI. We take care of the follow-up and coordinate dates for the next maintenance visit with you in good time.

On-site maintenance

Our service staff will check all components of your BFI flame monitoring system at your site during plant shutdown or during operation. After maintenance has been carried out, you will receive a log of the activities performed. This includes the current device settings as well as the results of the functional tests and their measured values.

The following activities will be carried out:

  • Disassembly of the flame scanner / flame controller / compact flame controller
  • Functional test of all device features incl. Documentation
  • Visual inspection of all components for mechanical and electrical damage
  • Checking the inside of the housing for foreign body and liquid ingress
  • Cleaning of lenses on flame scanners, compact flame controller, sensor heads, etc.
  • Mounting the flame scanner / flame controller / compact flame controller
  • Checking and, if necessary, cleaning the sight pipes

Inspection at BFI Automation

When your flame monitoring system is checked in our company, you send your equipment to BFI Automation. For this service we need the devices for approx. 5 working days with us in the house, plus outward and return transport (with numbers of items >8 devices a longer processing time is to be counted on). If you are sending in all the units of your BFI flame monitoring system for inspection, please complete and return the RMA form in advance so that we can schedule the inspection. If a defect is discovered during the inspection, you will be informed and receive an estimate of the probable repair costs.

The following activities will be carried out:

  • Visual inspection of all components for mechanical and electrical damage
  • Complete function test in accordance with test instructions for new devices incl. Documentation and adjustment
  • Checking the inside of the housing for foreign body and liquid ingress
  • 24 hours endurance test
  • Cleaning of lenses on flame scanners, compact flame controller, sensor heads, etc.
  • Renewal of seals (if required)
  • Documentation of parameters and settings

If you are interested, please fill in the form“RMA” and send it to us for a quotation.

Repair

If one of your units is defective, send it to the address listed on the RMA form for repair. After receipt of the device, our qualified employees assess whether a repair is economical or not. If the unit is repairable, you will receive a quote for the estimated cost of repair. The repair will only be started after receipt of your approval. If an economic total loss is determined during the assessment, we will provide you with an offer for a new device. As BFI flame monitoring systems are safety-related devices, we would like to point out that devices older than 15 years are excluded from repair. Should such a device be sent in, you will automatically receive an offer for a new device.

The following activities will be carried out:

  • Visual inspection of all components for mechanical and electrical damage
  • Cleaning of lenses on flame scanners, compact flame controller, sensor heads, etc.
  • Checking the inside of the housing for foreign body and liquid ingress
  • Complete function test in accordance with test instructions for new devices incl. Documentation
  • Renewal of seals (if required)
  • 24 hours endurance test
