Flame monitoring systems for gas turbines
Gas turbines are a crucial component of modern power generation and industrial applications, which make an important contribution to energy supply with their flexibility, particularly in the energy planning of the future.
The demands on the sensor technology of gas turbines are becoming ever greater, as the combustion of different fuels must be possible. At the same time, operation takes place under extreme conditions in which temperature, pressure and vibrations have a major influence on the sensor technology. The flame monitoring systems from BFI Automation have been specially developed for these applications and enable the monitoring of different fuels, under extreme conditions and with high operational reliability.
A sudden failure or instability of the flame can lead to serious damage to the turbine or combustion chambers and jeopardize operational safety. Our flame monitoring systems detect any unsafe condition within a few milliseconds and transmit it to the turbine control system to initiate an emergency shutdown. We use advanced technologies such as infrared or UV sensors to monitor the intensity and frequency of the flame in real time. This enables the evaluation of flame stability and presence. Anomalies such as flame displacement, flame loss or irregular combustion can also be detected at an early stage.
